April Week 1: Jesus Christ is the perfect example for me.

on April 10, 2012

Welcome to Gospel Learning On Your Lap.  I have posted the entire month’s mini-books in one download here. The rest of the April posts will include direction for assembly and some teaching suggestions for creating a lapbook with the Sharing Time theme “Jesus Christ Teaches Me
to Choose the Right”  I will include downloads for each mini-book as I explain them.  Tip: You will be downloading from 4Shared, a third party hosting site.  Just click on the link, click on Download Now, wait 20 seconds and click download again.  This will save the file to your computer for you to open and print through Adobe.

First up, turning your file folder into a lapbook.  Check out my older posts to become a lapbooking pro.

Download and print the Cover.  The cover this month is a coloring book page with a little digi-scrap additions (Your welcome, I like saving money on ink too.)  This will be fun coloring activity during church or when you are putting it together with your child.

Next item is the song.   According to the Primary sharing time outline, the chorister is to choose the song.  Our primary will be singing “Jesus Once was a Little Child” .  Another reader requested “I’m Learning the Ways of Jesus” and “I’m trying to be like Jesus”  so I’ve made all three.  Just choose which song you would like to include in your lapbook and download and print it.  You will glue the song on an inside flap.  I have included some extra clip art on the same page as the song.  Set it aside to cover any mistakes or bare spots once all of your mini-books are in place.  Tip: Print on normal setting.  Printing with Fast draft is a ink saving option, but the words are too light to read on this file.  I'm Learning the Ways of Jesus song and clip art copy Click on ONE of the following links to Download your song of choice:

I’m trying to be like Jesus

If there are any other request for songs, I would be glad to accommodate.  Just leave a message in the comments, and I’ll follow up this week.

Tag book and star puzzle

You can glue the star puzzle to the back of your lapbook.  I like to cover this with contact paper so it can be used over and over again.  Cut apart each tag and fasten together with a brad a the top.  You can fasten the book by pushing the brad through the file folder or gluing the back page to the inside flap.  If you go with the brad method, do that BEFORE you glue your cover on.  The cover will hide the back side of the brad.  For older children you can cut out more tags and have them write additional things Jesus would have them do such as go to the temple, family history, write in their journal, work on their Duty to God etc.  WWJD tag book

Thanks for staying tuned for April.  It is such a wonderful theme following Easter and General Conference.  I’m sure you will find a lot to talk to your children about this month as “we [continue] to talk of Christ, we rejoice in Christ, we preach of Christ, we prophesy of Christ, and we write according to our prophecies, that our children may know to what source they may look for a remission of their sins.” 2 Nephi 25:26
