Week 4: Church members today are blessed for choosing the right.

on February 18, 2012

My kids came home from Primary with their scripture puppets and they were so cute,  BUT surprisingly large.  My Puppet pocket was a little small to make a comfortable home for the new  little friends, but I still wanted to make them a part the lapbook.  Here is the modification I came up with and wanted to share.  Watch this video on  How to make a pocket for your lapbook
Find more videos like this on Lapbook Lessons
(if you don’t want to wait for a long video download, follow the link to lapbooklessons and watch it from there.)

You may also realize that by week 3 the lapbook is looking pretty full.  For Week 4, you can fill in the matchooks if you haven’t already, and practice singing the song. If your child comes home with a picture from sharing time, you can slip it into  the back pocket shown in the video above.  If he/ she would like to add another picture of a story he/she heard in primary about ways Church members chose the right and how they were blessed for doing, so you can work on this “Squash book” together.  **Sorry I see lots of typos in the instructions on the PDF

Squash Book

If you are out of room for a “triangle” squash book as the instructions suggest here are instructions for making a “square” version:  Cut around square picture.  Fold in half width wise and length wise and crease in both directions.  Fold along both diagonals and crease both directions.  Rotate square 45 degrees so it looks like a diamond.  Bring both side tips to the bottom and squash the square on top. Decorate with Clip art.

I’m  finishing up March’s lapbook “Living Prophets Teach Me to Choose the Right” so come back tomorrow for a sneak peak.  It’s gonna be BIG!

Just found your blog…. super great idea! The teacher in me is tickled to make gospel themed lap books and coordinated with the Primary theme…. whew-hoo! Thank you.

These are amazing!! Do you have a finished picture of the inside? I seem to be clueless as to where to put everything. I also could have totally missed the instructions. 🙂

    • I really need to post some pictures of the finished product! I do want you to feel free to arrange the minibooks as you like, but it does take some planning. Thanks for the suggestion!
